DISCORD AMONG IRANIAN JUDGES ON SPY CASE

NICOSIA [MENL] -- The three Iranian judges hearing an appeal by Jewssentenced to prison on espionage charges remain divided over the validity ofthe case presented by the defense. Iranian sources said the discord is the result of the assertion bydefense attorneys that the 10 Jews were sentenced on charges that do notexist in the criminal code. Simply put, the sources said, the defense hasargued that the prosecution never proved that the Jews were guilty ofespionage.
