ISRAEL'S MILITARY WARNS OF RED LINE

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's military has warned of an impending collapse asthe government prepares to agree on a defense budget. The military is warning that accumulated cuts in the defense budget arethreatening procurement, research and development as well as emergencystockpiles required for war. They have raised the prospect of abandoningplans to reduce compulsory service unless they receive 1.5 billion shekels[$375 million] for fiscal 2001.
