REBELS SAID KHARTOUM IS INCREASING ATTACKS

CAIRO [MENL] -- Sudanese rebels said the Khartoum regime has increased itsattacks in the south as the United States has launched an effort to end the17-year-old civil war. The rebel Sudan People's Liberation Army said the government hascontinued what the rebels termed the policy of indiscriminate bombings. In astatement, the SPLA said warplanes have launched five bombings of civiliantargets in the Western Upper Nile state.
