NICOSIA [MENL] -- China has implemented a massive military operation intoSudan to protect its lucrative oilfields in the Upper Nile region. In recent weeks the Sudan People's Liberation Army led by Col. JohnGarang has advanced within 16 kilometers of the Upper Nile region'soilfields, part owned by the China National Petroleum Corporation.
