PENTAGON PLACES PATRIOT MISSILES ON IRAQ ALERT

WASHINTON [MENL] -- The Pentagon has placed United States Army Patriotanti-missile batteries on an alert against a possible Iraqi Scud missileattack on Israel. The Pentagon stressed there was no immmediate threat to Israel butplaced the 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, based near Frankfurt,Germany, on alert for deployment to Israel after Labor Day, Monday, when thepresidential campaign begins in earnest, the Washgton Post said Friday.
