SHARM SUMMIT BEGINS WITH ARAFAT, BARAK

CAIRO [MENL] -- U.S. President Bill Clinton has convened a peace summit toend the violence between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Clinton met on Monday with both Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak andPalestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat in the Sinai resort of Sharme-Sheik. Arafat and Barak also met separately with Egyptian President HosniMubarak and United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan.
