MILITARY TENSIONS RISE BETWEEN GREECE, TURKEY

ATHENS [MENL] -- Military tensions continue to increase between Greece andTurkey in wake of the decision by Athens to withdraw from a NATO exercise inthe disputed Aegean Sea. Greek officials said the air forces of the two countries are headingtoward confrontation in Cyprus, where Greece joined the Republic of Cyprusin the annual Nikiforos exercise. The officials said that Cypriot radarlocked on to Turkish F-4 jets that entered Cypriot air space.
