CYPRIOT PROTESTS ENDANGER BRITISH M.E. OPERATIONS

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Britain and the Republic of Cyprus have launched a jointeffort to defuse growing opposition to a huge military antenna at a Britishair base -- required for British intelligence monitoring of the Middle East. The two countries have decided to study health risks to Cypriots wholive around the British base outside Limassol. The nearly 100 meter highantenna is part of a network upgrade and meant to increase British militarymonitoring of the Middle East and the Balkans.
