ARABS PLEASED, ISRAEL DISMAYED BY G-8 DECISION

JERUSALEM [MENL] -- Israel expressed dismay and the Arabs satisfaction by acall from G-8 leaders for the deployment of international observers in theWest Bank and Gaza Strip. Egypt and the Palestinian Authority said the G-8 call was urgent amidthe escalation of violence in the Palestinian areas. They called on theobservers to ensure that Israel's military ends attacks on Palestinianpositions.
