ISRAEL OFFERS POLLARD NEARLY $2 MILLION

JERUSALEM [MENL] -- Israel has offered former U.S. naval analyst JonathanPollard nearly $2 million in a deal that would absolve the Jewish state ofresponsibility for the fate of the man sentenced to life for supplying Arabmilitary secrets to the Jewish state. Israeli government sources have confirmed that Pollard was offered themoney in return for an end to Israeli efforts to free him. Pollard wassentenced in 1986 to a life sentence for passing military secrets to Israel.
