ISRAEL VETOES INDIAN CHIEF FOR UNIFIL

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Israel is said to have blocked the appointment of anIndian officer to head United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. The Israeli move came after the government of Prime Minister ArielSharon voiced suspicion that at least one Indian peacekeeper cooperated withthe Hizbullah abduction of three Israeli soldiers in October.
