Britian, Jordan To Sign Nuke Accord
AMMAN [MENL] -- Britain and Jordan plan to sign their first nuclear
cooperation accord.
Officials said the agreement would be signed over the next few days
during a visit by Britian Atomic Energy Authority director Barbara Thomas
Judge. Ms. Judge was scheduled to arrive on June 28 for a two-day visit to
the Hashemite kingdom.
Under the accord, Britain would help Jordan use nuclear energy to
generate electricity and desalinate water. Jordan has uranium reserves that
it was seeking to mine.
