ISRAELI MILITARY CHIEF CUTS SHORT VISIT TO U.S.

TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's military chief has cut short his visit to theUnited States amid escalating tension with the Palestinians as well as withSyria and Lebanon. But Israeli officials said the sudden return of Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofazdoes not signal an intention by the Jewish state to launch an offensiveagainst the Palestinian Authority. On Monday, three Israelis died and morethan 10 others were injured in bombing and shooting attacks within Israeland the West Bank.
