JAPAN PREPARES TO DEVELOP IRANIAN GAS FIELDS

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Japan plans to sign an accord for the development ofIran's gas fields in the Persian Gulf. The effort will be headed by Japan's National Oil Corporation along withprivate companies. The consortium might be augmented by the RoyalDutch/Shell group.
