GAZA CITY [MENL] -- Opponents of the Hamas regime plan to abduct foreign
journalists in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian sources said the Hamas regime, which has pledged a
ceasefire with Israel, has discovered a plot by Al Qaida-aligned gunmen to
kidnap foreigners who work in the Gaza Strip. The sources said the focus
would be on United Nations staffers or foreign journalists who work in the
area.
"There are elements who oppose the Hamas ceasefire and feel this would
be the best way to force Israeli intervention," a Palestinian source said.
The sources said the abduction plot was relayed by a UN security
official to a correspondent in the Gaza Strip. The tip was then reported to
news organizations.
