MAJOR FIGHTING RESUMES IN S. SUDAN

CAIRO [MENL] -- Sudan's military has resumed what is being described asheavy fighting with rebel forces in the oil-rich region in the south. Sudanese military sources as well as the rebel Sudanese People'sLiberation Army said the battles began last week in the area of westernNuer. Each side is claiming success.
