U.S. MAKES LITTLE HEADWAY WITH SYRIAN PIPELINE
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Bush administration has acknowledged that it hasmade little headway in stopping Syria from obtaining Iraqi oil exportedoutside the auspices of the United Nations. U.S. officials said that despite pledges by President Bashar Assad,Syria has not shut down its pipeline with Iraq. The pipeline is said to bepumping more than 200,000 barrels of oil a day from Iraq to the Syrian portof Banyas.
