HOUSE DIVIDED OVER REVISED SANCTIONS BILL
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The House of Representatives appears divided over abill to revise U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran and Libya. The new bill would extend sanctions on Teheran and Tripoli for anotherfive years but allow for their immediate lifting at any time. Under thebill, the administration would determine the effectivness of the sanctionsin 18 months and any member of Congress could then prompt a vote on whetherto continue the restrictive measures.
