GCC COMPLETES FIRST STAGE OF SECURITY COOPERATION

NICOSIA [MENL] -- The member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council havecompleted the first stage of a cooperation project to linktelecommunications. GCC Secretary General Jamil Al-Hujailan said that the GCC has alreadycompleted the first stage of a "cooperation and secure telecommunications"project to link air defenseoperation centers to an early warning system and radar network. A militarycommunications cable connecting the militaries of the GCC states will alsobe made operational. furthermore, Hujailan said that the GCC states arediscussing plans to purchase a satellite for military use. This would be a"qualitative leap in the domain of military reconnaissance andintelligence," he said.
