U.S. PLEDGES TO WARN ISRAEL OF ATTACK

JERUSALEM [MENL] -- The United States has pledged to warn Israel of anyattack against Iraq. Washington will warn Israel if it plans any attack on Iraq, which is "inthe sights of the United States," Israeli Deputy Defence Minister DaliaRabin-Pelossof said Wednesday."There is no doubt that Iraq is in the sights of the United States andsooner or later the Americans will take this country on, but for the momentwe are in the dark and we have to wait," said the minister, daughter ofassassinated prime minister Yitzhak Rabin.Washington warned Iraq Tuesday not to exploit the crisis over Afghanistanand threaten its neighbours or ethnic minorities with weapons of massdestruction.GREEK MILITARY FORMS WMD UNITATHENS [MENL] -- The Greek military has formed a special unit to battleweapons of mass destruction. The unit to respond to biological, chemical and nuclear weapons wasformed by the General Staff. Officials said the new Nuclear-BiochemicalDefense branch allows the Greek military to obtain the technology needed todeal with the prospect of a nonconventional war.
