U.S. DESTROYS TARGET ICBM IN MISSILE DEFENSE TEST

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has reported a successful test in itsmissile defense development program. The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization said a prototype interceptorintercepted and destroyed an intercontinental ballistic missile target in atest launch over the Pacific Ocean on late Monday. It was the thirdsuccessful intercept in five attempts for the Ground-based Midcourse DefenseSegment, formerly known as National Missile Defense. Over the weekend thetest was postponed twice because of poor weather.
