TURKEY AWARDS $1 BILLION ARTILLERY DEAL TO SAMSUNG

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has awarded an estimated $1 billion contract to aSouth Korean contractor for the production of artillery subsystems. Officials said Samsung Techwin won what they termed was the largestTurkish deal yet awarded by the Turkish military. The award was relayed aspart of the military's effort to design a howitzer. Ankara plans to procure400 SP-2000 guns.
