TURKEY REAFFIRMS BID FOR U.S. EW SYSTEMS

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey's air force has reaffirmed a decision to renewnegotiations for the purchase of a U.S. electronic warfare system for itsF-16fleet. The air force plans to renew negotiations with the Turkish firm Mikes,the manufacturer of the ALQ Version 3 Electronic Warfare Systems, producedby Lockheed Martin. Mikes has agreed to merge with the state-owned Aselsan,which had offered a French-manufactured competitive system.
