U.S. SOLDIERS TO BE KEPT OFF SAUDI STREETS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States plans to lower the profile ofits military presence in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. military intends to keep American soldiers out of sight ofordinary Saudis during the forthcoming Haj pilgrimage in Mecca, U.S. defensesourcessaid. The sources said commanders are expected to order soldiers to remainin their bases and stay out of areas populated by Saudis or Islamicpilgrims.
