GERMANY CONTINUES AS KEY SUPPLIER TO IRAQ

LONDON [MENL] -- Despite U.S. pressure, Germany continues to maintain itsrole as the leading Western supplier of dual-use equipment to Iraq. European officials said German companies have increased contacts withthe regime of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and have signed a range ofcontracts for technology and advanced equipment. Many of the contracts havebeen blocked by Britain and the United States.
