TURKISH SYSTEM COULD BE PLACED IN M-60

ANKARA [MENL] -- A Turkish-produced fire control system is being consideredfor installation in the U.S. M-60 main battle tank. Turkish officials said they are examining whether a new fire controlsystem planned for the German-made Leopard-1 main battle tank could also beinstalled on the U.S.-made M-60. On Jan. 11, Turkey signed a $160 millionwith Aselsan for the installation of the Volkan system in 162 Leopard tanks.
