IRAN SEEKS TO DEVELOP COMBAT JET

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran seeks to develop a combat jet to replace itsaging fleet of U.S. warplanes. The Islamic republic has launched projects to develop the Azarakhshfighter. The jet is said to be based on the U.S. F-5F, sold in the 1970s.Iran is reported to have 60 F-5 aircraft.
