RUSSIA TRIES TO CREATE ANTI-TERROR MARKET IN MIDEAST

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Russia has launched an effort to market a range ofcounterinsurgency equipment to help Arab states foil attacks by Al Qaida andits aligned groups. The Russian equipment includes surveillance and detection systems thatRussian executives said could have foiled the Al Qaida attacks on the USSCole and French oil tanker around Yemen over the last two years. Moscow hasalso developed systems to protect Gulf Arab oil facilities from sabotage.
