U.S. UPGRADES NBC PROTECTION SYSTEMS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. Army is upgrading its systems that protecttroops against nuclear, biological and chemical weapons attacks. The Defense Department has awarded an $18.4 million contract to GeneralDynamics Land Systems Division for the upgrade of eight Fox NBCreconnaissance systems. The Fox is a German-origin system that protectstroops against a range of nonconventional threats and has been deployed inKuwait amid the current U.S.-led military buildup in the Persian Gulf.
