TURKEY UPGRADES OIL REFINERY

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey plans to modernize its largest oil refinery in a$233 million project. The Ankara-based Tupras has awarded contracts to a Spanish company forthe upgrade of the refinery at Izmit. The contract, scheduled for completionin 2005, aims to increase production of unleaded fuel at Izmit to ensurethatthe production of diesel oil reaches the quality of standards set by theEuropean Union.
