U.S. SELECTS DJIBOUTI, QATAR TO REPLACE SAUDI BASES

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has selected Djibouti and Qatar, toreplace U.S. military facilities in Saudi Arabia. U.S. officials said Saudi Arabia is no longer regarded as safe for asignificant presence. They said the United States has chosen Qatar andDjibouti as bases to compensate for the Saudi kingdom, which hasincreasingly limited U.S. military activity.
