Algeria, France Ready To Sign Military Pact
LONDON [MENL] -- Algeria and France have advanced toward the signing of a
military agreement.
Officials said Algeria and France plan to sign an agreement for military
and nuclear cooperation. They said the nuclear cooperation would be
restricted to civilian applications.
"This is a topic on which we are working, especially during the visit by
Prime Minister Francois Fillon, in the coming weeks," Algerian Foreign
Minister Mourad Medelci said.
Medelci disclosed Algeria's plans on May 12 following a meeting with
visiting French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner. The Algerian, who did not
elaborate, called the deals "important."
