TURKEY SEEKS EUROPEAN AIRCRAFT

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has launched the first major effort to procure European military aircraft as Ankara seeks to woo European Union states for membership. The Defense Ministry plans to begin formal negotiations for the procurement of 10 naval aircraft from a leading European defense contractor. The negotiations were part of Ankara's efforts to increase defense ties with EU states in an effort to winagreement for accession.
