UAE, Spain To Sign Military Accord

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Spain and the United Arab Emirates were approaching
agreement for defense and military cooperation.
Officials said the two countries have been drafting an agreement that
would pave the way for Spanish training of the UAE military. They said
Spain, on the eve of the visit by King Juan Carlos to the UAE, has also
offered a range of defense systems as well as technology transfer to Abu
Dhabi. Carlos arrived in the UAE on Saturday.
"We are confident that the visit of King Juan Carlos would contribute
significantly to our warm friendship and bilateral cooperation," UAE
President Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said. "Moreover, it would widen the
scope of cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries."
