U.S. FOCUSES ON BUILDING JORDAN'S SOF

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has decided to focus its military aid todevelop Jordan's special operations forces. U.S. officials said the Defense Department and Central Command haveidentified Jordan's new special forces as a major area of cooperationbetween Washington and the Hashemite kingdom. They said Jordan's SOF couldcomprise a major element in the war against Al Qaida, help train otherArab allies of the United States and provide security along the Iraqi and SaudiArabian border.
