LIBYA WITHDRAWS LOCKERBIE ESCROW ACCOUNT

CAIRO [MENL] -- Libya has withdrawn funds from an escrow account meant tocompensate relatives for the killing of 270 passengers aboard a downed U.S.passenger flight in an attack attributed to Libya in 1988. The official Libyan news agency Jana has reported that the LibyanCentral Bank has withdrawn $500 million from the escrow account forrelatives of those killed in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 overLockerbie, Scotland. The account was to have held about $2.7 billion meantfor the relatives.
