Britain Trains Kuwait Navy

LONDON [MENL] -- Britain has maintained a program to train Kuwait's navy.
Officials said scores of officers from the Kuwait Navy have been trained
by Britain. They said the Kuwaiti naval cadets were receiving instruction at
military and civilian facilities in Britain.
In July 2008, 13 Kuwait Navy cadets were graduated from a training
course at the University of Plymouth in southwestern England. The ceremony was attended by
Maj. Gen. Yusef Al Medhakha, director of Kuwait's Saad Al Abdullah Academy
for Security Studies, which arranged the instruction.
Officials said the the British instruction was meant to increase the
skills and knowledge of the Kuwaiti cadets. They said the course took
between four and five years.
"Almost all of the cadets had done quite well in their studies," Al
Medhakha said.
