The project has been led by Turkey's FNSS Savunma Sistemleri. In March
2008, FNSS selected thermal driver sights and navigation systems from Thales
UK.
    Industry sources said FNSS has ordered 300 thermal driver sights as well
as land navigation systems. They said the equipment would be used for the
first phase of Turkey's M113 upgrade.
    FNSS has designed a configuration for the modernized M113 prototype. The
upgrade package, titled M113-A300, has included the latest Detroit
Diesel 6V53T with the Allison X200-B transmission.
    "This enhanced version of M113A300 provides improved safety, high power
to weight ratio and high reliability," FNSS said.
