In 2005, Elbit Systems won an estimated $700 million subcontract to
supply the UAV for Watchkeeper. The project has been led by prime contractor
Thales.
    Industry sources said the April 16 flight in northern Israel lasted 25
minutes. They said the WK450 did not contain a mission payload.
    In an unrelated development, the Israel Air Force has resumed operations
of its F-16I multi-role fighter fleet. Officials said the air force, which
ended training flights of the advanced platform in March, determined that
the F-16I no longer presents a health threat to pilots. Formaldehyde was
detected in three F-16s.
