FRANCE WANTS TO SELL KUWAIT PLANES, MISSILES

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- France has offered Kuwait the prospect of enhancing military cooperation, including sales of new fighter-jets and missiles.

Gulf defense sources said the French offer came amid high-level military talks between Paris and the sheikdom. A Kuwaiti delegation, led by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ali Al Mumin arrived in Paris late last month and is meeting French defense chiefs and political leaders.

Later, Al Mumin met his French counterpart, Jean-Pierre Kelch, in Paris. Kelch said France seeks to expand its defense and military cooperation with Kuwait in a range of fields.

"The discussion with Al Mumin will deal with ways to develop the level of military cooperation between France and Kuwait, including the fields of joint exercises and military material," Kelch told Kuwaiti reporters.
