WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has approved a program to help
improve Saudi Arabia's fleet of F-15 fighter-jets.The Defense Department has awarded a $5 million contract to Abacus
Technology Corp.to provide communications support for Saudi Arabia's fleet
of F-15s. The support is meant for the 91 F-15 C/D aircraft purchased by
Riyad in 1982 and the 72 advanced F-15S jets purchased in 1995.Abacus Technology, based in Chevy Chase, Md., provides information
technology and management consulting services. Since 1993, the company has
provided engineering expertise to help improve the Saudi air defense system.Officials said the project would support the F-15 Peace Sun Program as
well as the Saudi Peace Shield Program. They said the contract is also meant
to provide communications support for a range of U.S. and Saudi
installations.
