SAUDIS TO OBTAIN PATRIOT MISSILE KITS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia will obtain telemetry kits for the Patriot anti-aircraft system.

The United States has approved a plan to supply support systems and components for the kingdom's arsenal of Patriot batteries. The plan will maintain the Patriot systems in procurement by the Saudis that will last until 2007.

The Pentagon has awarded Symetrics Industries a $34.4 million contract for the procurement of 204 Patriot Missile single and dual-frequency telemetry kits for the U.S. Army and allied governments. They include Greece, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has 29 percent of the contract awarded to Symetrics, based in Melbourne, Fla. A Pentagon statement said the production of the kits will take place in Florida and will be completed in November 2007.
