GREECE SAYS TURKISH AIRCRAFT INCREASES AGGRESSION

ATHENS [MENL] -- Greece has warned of increased aggressiveness by Turkish fighter-jets inside air space claimed by Athens.

Greek defense officials said they have recorded a record number of violations of Greek air space by Turkish fighter-jets. They said what is more worrisome is that Turkish combat jets have been flying in what they termed an extremely aggressive manner.

Greek Defense Minister Yiannos Papantoniou said the Turkish combat jets that entered Greek air space were armed. He said most of the air space violations were in the Aegean Sea, an area disputed by Ankara.

"We will not play the game of tension that Ankara wishes to play," Papantoniou said. "We shall be firm in our positions, but naturally with a high degree of preparedness and vigilance to confront any prospect."
