GAZA CITY [MENL] -- The Palestinian Authority has reported progress in the
investigation of the October bombing of a U.S. embassy convoy in the Gaza
Strip in which three security guards were killed.PA sources said Palestinian security agencies have captured two
Palestinians determined to have obtained the explosives for the roadside
bomb that was detonated near the U.S. embassy convoy outside the Jabalya
refugee camp north of Gaza City. The sources said the suspects confessed to
participating in the Oct. 15 bombing and later provided information on those
who carried out the attack.The PA has also identified two Palestinians as those who carried out the
bombing. The Palestinians, who have not been caught, were said to be members
of the so-called Palestinian Resistance Committees, a shadowy group aligned
with Fatah.The State Department identified the U.S. casualties as three security
personnel working for the U.S. military contractor DynCorp. The bodyguards
had been securing a three-vehicle U.S. embassy convoy to the Gaza Strip to
interview Palestinian candidates for Fulbright Scholarship grants.
