BAE DEVELOPS VERTICAL-LAUNCH UAV

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- BAE Systems has been developing a vertical-launchunmanned aerial aircraft. The company has completed the first untethered flight of itssecond-generation ducted-fan UAV in a project for the Defense Department.Executives said the vertical-launch aircraft, built for risk reduction forthe Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's Organic Air VehicleClass II program, twice completed a course of 10 waypoints at SouthernCalifornia's Hansen Field.
