TEL AVIV [MENL] -- An Israeli firm has developed the world's first armored tractor.
Israel's Mifram said it has completed development of "Memugan," what executives termed the world's first armored tractor, for operations along the border of the Gaza Strip. The company said Memugan, developed in cooperation with the Israeli military, could withstand an attack from light arms to short-range missiles.
"Until now, tractors working the fields around Gaza were protected against light weapons without a manufacturer's warranty," Mifram said on July 24. "Memugan is a product of Mifram's armor department together with the Home Front Command. Memugan is an armored tractor capable of withstanding a full strike by small arms, Kassam rockets and mortar shells used by terrorists in the Gaza Strip."
