GAZA CITY [MENL] -- In its first offensive, the Hamas regime has targeted the Al Qaida presence in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas's Executive Force and Izzedin Kassam military wing assaulted strongholds of Al Qaida-aligned groups around Gaza City and northern Gaza. Palestinian sources reported heavy fighting, which included rocket-propelled grenades and resulted in the injury of at least six people.
Two members of the Army of Islam were arrested and one fighter was killed, the sources said. They said this marked the first arrest of members of the Al Qaida-inspired group in 2008.
