IRAQI DIVISION CITED IN TAL AFAR BATTLE

BAGHDAD [MENL] -- An Iraq Army division played a major role in the U.S.-ledoffensive against a major Sunni insurgency stronghold near the Syrianborder. U.S. officials said Iraqi army and police units played a key role ininfantry operations in the campaign to capture Tal Afar in northwesternIraq. They said the army's Third Division as well as police commando unitssucceeded in infantry, reconnaissance and other combat assignments assignedby the coalition.
