TURKEY READY TO LAUNCH AIR TRAINER BID

ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey was said to be preparing to launch a project toprocure an air trainer. Turkish officials said the Defense Industry Undersecretariat, or SMM, plans to imminently issue a Request for Proposal for the acquisition of a basic air trainer. They said they expect leading Western majors to compete for what they estimate would be a $450 million program.
