TEL AVIV [MENL] -- A leading Israeli defense firm has been awarded an
unmanned aerial vehicle project by Australia.
Israel's Elbit Systems was awarded a deal to supply the Skylark-1
miniature UAV to the Australian Army. Executives said this marked the third
Skylark UAV order to the Australian Army, which has deployed the platform in
Afghanistan.
"Australia's decision to equip its army with an additional set of
Skylark-1 UAV systems underscores recognition of the UAV systems'
capabilities and added value to soldiers in active war zones," Elbit Systems
executive vice president Haim Kellerman said.
